How to Play Texas Hold’em

Posted by wp 29 June, 2008

Most of American casinos provide their players with Texas Hold’em which is the best-known poker variation. Thanks to its popularity, it has even made it to the tournaments like World Poker Tour or World Series of Poker. Usually, it is played by from 2 to 10 people, but, in fact, even 22 players can take part in this game. Its flexibility was probably the main reason why Texas Hold’em was played at these tournaments. It is typical that at the beginning of a competition there are many contenders. Hold’em Poker fulfills this condition.
The object of the game can’t be surprising to anyone – a player has to win the money placed in the betting area by each contestant. It is called the “pot.” He wins if he turns out to possess the highest ranked hand or if all of his opponents fold their game. No one is allowed to see the other player’s cards, so the gamblers have to place so-called blind bets.
A few major movies have exposed this well-known version of poker. It has attracted a large audience thanks to tensed and dramatic games at the highest level. Many people even became willing to learn how to play it after watching a coverage of many poker competitions on ESPN.
And why some Texas Hold’em Poker players are successful and some are not? “Poker face” is a widely-known term. In case someone wasn’t aware of it, it means giving your opponents no opportunities to find out about your cards by your body movements. There’s no other way since the cards are shuffled carefully by the dealer. If the player is able to avoid manifesting his happiness and disappointment, his opponents will never know what they should expect. It will give him the upper hand. When someone is trying to scare other players, even if his cards are not that strong, he can bet very courageously and make his opponents fold. Poker enthusiasts call it “bluffing.” In this case, it would be really difficult to figure out whether the man has a highly ranked hand or it is just a smart “bluff.”
