Online casino penalized by the French
Patrick Partouche, the holder of Partouche International, was penalized with the large amount of 40,000 euros and handed one year suspended sentence by the French court for taking part in an online gambling company that illegally targeted French gamers, and his firm was obliged to pay 150,000 for lending its name to the website “Casino770.com” and “Poker770.com”.
The major web page of Partouche International (casinopartouche.com) was withdrawn of August 27 2006, though, the company has given their brand name to the websites mentioned above, that belong to Mandarin Dated Processing Ltd, and has comprised a message on their web page recommending them to their visitors as alternative online gambling sites.
This has been observed by the industry as only another act performed by the French government in order to try and keep its gambling monopoly in the country. It is unclear right now whether an appeal will be made.
